2010 Policy Areas

Asks we took to Washington last year

Accelerate Colorado is committed to advancing Colorado’s economy by advocating on behalf of the state’s most important industries for pro-business public policy.  It is imperative that there is statewide support, not just to protect these industries, but to help them to move forward.  Accelerate Colorado looks to build consensus on critical policy areas, and to carry that consensus to Washington, D.C. in order to ensure present and future prosperity.  

Accelerate Colorado's 2010 Aerospace and Defense Asks

  • Support the President’s decision to continue the Orion program.
  • Support the President’s vision for human deep space exploration.
  • Support the FY 2011 President’s budget request of $1.1 billion in procurement and $30.2 million in RDT&E for EELV.
  • Support Colorado’s military and civilian space resources.

Accelerate Colorado's 2010 Bioscience Asks

  • Support the Colorado Institute for Drug, Device and Diagnostics Development (CID4).

  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding for research.
  • Support a consensus-based approach to patent law reform.
  • Support strong intellectual property rights.

Accelerate Colorado's Energy 2010 Asks

  • Funding for the Aurora Campus for Renewable Energy (ACRE) and the Solar Technology Acceleration Center(SolarTAC).
  • Strong delegation support and funding for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).

Accelerate Colorado's 2010 Transportaion Asks

Our focus is on regional improvements that will help serve Colorado with a coordinated and multi-modal transportation network.  All of our priorities have regional support and significant benefit to the safety and mobility of Colorado citizens, goods and services.  In addition, each project is listed on the Colorado Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and the fiscally constrained Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  Our key priorities for Highway Priority Project (HPP) consideration include:

  • I-225 Widening and Colfax/17th Place Interchange
  • I-25 and Arapahoe Interchange
  • FasTracks
  • Tower Road and Peña Boulevard Interchange
  • Powers Boulevard and Stewart Interchange

Accelerate Colorado's 2010 Veterans Affairs Asks

  • Support the request for federal funding for the construction of the new Veterans Administration Hospital at Fitzsimons.
  • Support the effort to direct federal funding towards the construction of the new Veterans Administration Cemetery in Southern Colorado.

Accelerate Colorado's 2010 Water Asks

  • Support the efforts for financial and technical assistance from the Bureau of Reclamation's Rural Water Supply Program to conduct appraisal investigations and feasibility studies on water projects to provide water for use in the south metro Denver area.
